I’ve actually done some product thinking around systems like this for a project! It can create really interesting troll- and spam-prevention mechanisms if there are obvious “toxic” branches.

Even more powerful, if users are “responsible” for the behavior of those they invite (ie your account can face repercussions if your invitees break rules), it can create a super strong social contract on a platform

It's also a differentiator from all other platforms that focus only on massive growth as fast as possible. Inviting people can also be an incentive to get something, such as free blue check verification. It encourages everyone on T2 to market the platform, and to then nurture it.
