I wish other industries would offer similar services to Uber's 'please don't talk to me' option. I would happy pay more for a haircut if I didn't have to have the same small talk conversation each time. #grumpyoldmanpost

OK big question for a Friday morning. My wife and I moved to the US in 2019 and have only lived in San Mateo. We want to stay in CA but are otherwise open to anywhere. Any top tips? Schools is a consideration for the little one.

I can’t give CA related advice because I’ve never lived there. What I can offer, as someone who moved around a lot in my life, is this: the ideal place is the sweet spot between close to work, close to groceries, close to a park, great school for the kid, safe and quiet.

Not sure if you’re wanting to be outside of the Bay, but come to the East Bay! Amazing schools in Orinda, Lafayette, Berkeley, Albany, Piedmont and prob others I’m not including.

Not much honestly! Safe area/low crime. Ideally fairly close to an airport (within 45 min drive). Oh and, Whole Foods, we'd need a Whole Foods :)

Personally I am pretty partial to Southern California. For a family I would checkout Orange County, in particular the beach cities or South Orange County. They have good schools and the cost of living I would think is about the same as San Mateo. Also the weather is better.

Seems like you’re already in a really nice ‘burb of SFO. Schools appear highly rated. Unless there’s a compelling reason to move, I’m not sure it gets much “better” elsewhere in CA unless money is no object.

True. I just don't need to be here for work as I can work remotely, so feels a bit financially wasteful to stay in such an expensive county.

I've been called many things in my time, but this is the first time I think I've been called engaging. I'll take it!
@richevans You are 'Engaging.'

Slight departure from my usual posts: I’m hiring for a 12+ month contract role, Snr. consumer insights analyst, for brand and marketing insights at Dolby. I know many great people have been impacted of late so if you know of someone great LMK and I can share where to submit CV.

Are there any Kamado Joe Grill owners out there? I am torn between the II and the III. I can't believe how much BBQs cost these days. Like, $2k!? Trying to figure out if it's worth it.

The right answer is Primo. Their oval models are the best, that way you can cook indirect as well. I own one and the price is commensurate with the quality. Id also recommend getting a device like flame Boss so you can do 16 hr low and slow while you’re sleeping.

Well now you've just confused me even more by adding another one into the mix, ha. Yes, will be getting a Flame Boss too though!

If you show up next Friday at the meet up I can talk your ear off about it 😂

This is nice, I can’t wait to see T2 continue to grow and expand. It has been a ~paradise~ around here as the service has slowly grown; something I’ll remember. techcrunch.com/2023/04/25/t2-twitter-alternative-expansion-invites/...

I just took my one-year-old daughter to a swimming lesson for the first time. Was expecting tears but she took to it like a duck to…well, water. #prouddad
